All-Area teams and Player of the Year

Sometime this week, the Dispatch sports staff and photo department will get together and decide on players for the All-Area team, players of the year and coaches of the year for both the guys and girls.

Who are your choices for the honors, first- and second-team?

CJ Wilkerson from JF Webb should be player of the year no doubt. He has shown he can be a real team leader. In the state playoffs he averaged 26.7 points per game. In one game he almost had a triple- double.

CJ Wilkerson, Webb HS. Shown that he can do a little of everything and be an unselfish player. Plays big in biggest games. No question one of the best players in this area of the state.

I'd say he's a strong candidate.

The local team that had the best season as a team gets the Player of the Year...then go by personal statistics for the rest of them.

Northern Vance's Varsity Basketball team had a great year. Losing early in conference play didn't defeat their purpose and they pulled back to end the season on a high note. Even if others don't think so...Vikings congratulations on a good season!!!!

Player of the year should go to that Jamere Pugh. I know hearing that name again seems a bit much. But if the shoe fits. He lead a team that most people had put on bed rest to the number one seed in the conference and to the second round of state playoffs. He also averaged 20+points per game and double digits assist and rebounds most games. The kid is awesome!

It should be a tie for Player of the Year with CJ Wilkerson and Jamere Pugh. CJ reminded me of Grant Hill, after the National Championship team broke up. He really put Webb on his back and led them this year. Jamere is simply the best athlete in Vance County. With only a week between football and basketball season he stil put up unbelievable numbers.

Crossroads Christian Ledarius Richardson put up big numbers this year and he is only a sophmore

Yeah, considering he played watered down talent and went to CC because he could not crack the lineup at Southern Vance.

You cant hate on this kid people leave public schools everyday. He had 27 points on KVA and KVA would murder southern vance

I don't hold the public/private school thing against him, but I don't see him as P.O.Y. material.

He is on the All-Area team, however.

Ledarius Richardson is the best in the 09 class so next year player of the year is going to be between Pugh and Richarsdon.

CJ Wilkerson, Webb HS for POY Honors. I played with him over the summer last year and it's easy to say the kid can flat out play, he led his team all season via strong performances and his state playoff averages were very impressive.
